Stange Kölsch — Hand-Illustration

Four-Brewhouse Tour

Päffgen, Früh, Sion, Malzmühle.

Duration: 3 hfrom 38,00 €📍 Friesenplatz, in front of Päffgen

Come grab a Kölsch with us.

Three hours, four small glasses, and the kind of stories no guidebook prints. We walk from Friesenviertel to the old town, through four brewhouses that each brew their own Kölsch — and tell their own stories.

Stops

  1. 1. Päffgen, Friesenstraße
We start with the classic. Three generations of family, a brewery in the back yard. First glass.
  2. 2. Brauhaus Sion
Right in the old town — Cologne to its core. Here you'll learn why you never empty a Stange (the small 0.2L glass) all the way.
  3. 3. Brauhaus zur Malzmühle
Heinrich Böll was a regular. You'll see why. The mill is still standing.
  4. 4. Früh am Dom
Right under the cathedral. Last stop, fourth glass. The Köbes here knows every story this city has to tell.

Frequently asked

  • Where do we meet?

The meeting point is in each tour description. Look for Tobias in the red cap and a laugh you can hear from a block away. Show up five minutes early — Cologne is not running off.

  • Can I cancel?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour. No questions asked. After that, the brewhouses are reserved and the Köbes is waiting — please call us if something urgent comes up: +49 221 555 0 555.

  • How do I pay?

Online when you book — card, PayPal, SEPA. In the brewhouses, everyone pays for their own glasses — that is the Cologne tradition. Tip the Köbes if you feel like it.

  • Do tours run in the rain?

Brewhouse tours always run — we are inside anyway. For the old-town walk: bring an umbrella, we still go. We only postpone for storm warnings, and you will get an email if that happens.

  • Can I bring kids?

On the Old Town Classic, yes — under-14s come free. Brewhouse tours are 18+. If your kid is 16 or 17 and wants to join, just ask, we figure it out.

  • What language is the tour in?

Default is German (with the occasional Cologne dialect). English tours on request — Tobias and Mara run both. Drop us a line ahead of time and we will book the right guide.
